PET诊断准备
体系级别
KET诊断属于剑桥通用英语先进级，是英语入门诊断，是剑桥英语的一项基础英语水平认证。
PET诊断属于剑桥通用英语第二级，是初级英语诊断，是剑桥英语的一项中级英语水平认证。
词汇量
从词汇量来看，KET要求掌握的词汇量为1500，PET要求掌握的词汇量则多达3500个，而通过之后，KET相当于国际学校三-五年级水平，等同于欧洲委员会指定的欧洲语言教学大纲的(A2)水平，PET则相当于六-七年级，对应的是欧洲委员会指定的欧洲语言教学大纲的(B1)等级。
诊断难度
等级越高，诊断的难度逐渐递增。PET的诊断对于考生听说读写各方面的能力要求更高，如KET写作部分的字数要求只需达到35字以上，而PET的写作要求字数是100字，是KET的三倍。

学习时长和报考人群
由于难度差异，KET的建议学习课时为90小时，PET为120小时。KET的报考孩子主要大多数为小学四年级的孩子，也有程度很好的二、三年级孩子报名参加诊断，PET则为小学到初中年级的孩子，也有部分程度很好的四、五年级孩子。
是否建议跨级报考
有的家长可能会问，我想给小孩直接报考PET，行不行?
虽然KET/PET报考不受限制，但是如果不具备一定的英语基础，没有经过系统化的学习，只是盲目跟风突击报考，突击学习，是非常容易导致诊断失利的，尤其是PET诊断，相较KET难度跨度大，孩子想要报考PET，起码需要具备KET水平，打好基础才能慢慢开始准备诊断。
因此建议家长要遵循孩子语言学习和孩子认知水平的发展规律，不能为了诊断而诊断，不具备相当的英语能力不建议盲目跨级报考。
